The switcharoo

In Michigan, I'm visiting my relatives for the holidays. We've just finished dinner at a restaurant. There are about eight of us so we took two cars. It's dark out and I don't know my way around town very well. My Uncle, my cousin and one of my daughters are in my car and I'm following my other Uncle back to his house. In the spirit of the holidays, we are talking about the Christmas lights and a number of other humorous things that I won't mention.

Notice my Uncle in my car is from Michigan and is very familiar with the area. I figure if I lose my Uncle that I am following we will still find our way back.

So we continue following the truck in front of us and our conversation is getting more silly as we go, but we are having a good old time.

I hear my Uncle say, "Weird they are going this way." I continue to follow the truck. Then I realize nothing looks familiar and the truck in front of us is pulling into a house I've never seen before. As everything comes to fruition, I have just followed the wrong truck home to the wrong house. I burst out in hysterical laughter. But, I quickly pass the house that the truck pulled into and circle the neighborhood and get back out to the road we came in on.

My Uncle that is sitting next to me can't figured out what just happened, but I remember that another truck had slipped in front of me when my other Uncle switched lanes. Since we were having so much fun with our conversation, I forgot about it and ended up in an unfamiliar neighborhood. The funny part was that the truck was the same color and had a very similar license plate.

Good thing my other Uncle was with me to get us back home, but I couldn't stop laughing all the way home. I had everyone laughing in the car with me by the time we got to the right house.

In Line

You know when you finished your grocery list in the store, the cart is overflowing, and you push your heavy load to the check out line. All the lines are three deep so you just pick whichever and read the covers of all the gossip magazines while you wait. Of course, no one wants to get behind you in line because of the load you are pushing around.

Once the conveyor belt moves, you start to unload. Trying to move as quickly as possible, a small prick of perspiration breaks out along your hairline, to get all the groceries out so you can move the cart to the end. Feeling guilty that you have so much stuff, you try to help the bagger get some of the groceries back into the cart before the checker finishes.

Then the checker states your total. Granted, you know you have spent way too much, but rationalize you needed it all to get through the next few weeks. But, nothing weakens your knees more when you open your wallet and your favorite credit card is missing (or debit card if you prefer). Basically, your heart drops to your stomach and your last five places you visited before flash in front of you, trying to trace your steps.

Wham, you remember that you pulled the card out to pay for gas and you left the card in your right pocket. Your hand slides slowly into your pocket only to thank God you feel the little rectangular piece of plastic. Swiping the card, signing your name and pushing your cart to the car. And you take a deep breath because you made it through another grocery trip successfully.

Christmas Boycot

I think Christmas should be taken off the calendar. The only thing that should be done on Christmas is going to church and/or volunteering for charity. No one should get gifts everyone should just spend time together.

Oh wait, if no one bought any gifts then our materialistic economy would crash. And we would be swallowed up by all the useless crap we didn't buy.

Wow! Am I becoming philosophical?

Make life simple. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Winter vs Skin

The winter sucks. Dry skin, shivering, shoveling, scraping windows...

Actually, I don't mind the winter too much. I like playing in the snow, sledding with the kids, ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc., but I really hate dry itchy skin in the winter. The other day I cut my cuticle, not just a little slice, but a complete severed cuticle. Adding the dry skin, it exacerbates everything. Every bump and touch hurts like hell. Not to mention the redness and swelling around the area. No amount of lotion is going to help me here.

I know I'm not the most carefullest with my hands. I tend to have cuts and bruises from doing everyday things. Damn, I think a cut cuticle is worst than a deep paper cut. It seems to take forever to heal.

Okay, I'm done complaining. I will move on. Have a great day!

Professional Gambler

I know it has been awhile since I have posted anything, but I've been busy. The unemployment line keeps getting longer.

From marketing expert to professional gambler, its not too far of a stretch. Don't worry about me, I'm back to playing the stock market.
